Canada’s Start-up Visa Program was launched in 2013 and it is designed for foreign entrepreneurs who have the skills and potential to establish unique business concepts in Canada. It allows them to get their families along to Canada and apply for Canadian permanent resident status.
Requirements
To be eligible to the Start-up Visa Program, the applicant must:
- Own a qualifying business/ business idea
- Entrepreneurs can come as a group up to 5 applicants or as individuals.
- Get a letter of support from a designated organization, which could be either, Venture capital fund, Angel investor group or a Business incubator who are authorized by the Canadian government.
- No minimum net worth requirement
- Willing to Invest CAD $100,000 to CAD $200,000
- There is no minimum/maximum age criteria
- Score Minimum Level 5 of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in speaking, listening, reading & writing in either English or French
- Should not hold any criminal history
- Must have a clean Medical Record and not possess any serious health condition
- Need to have appropriate settlement Funds as per IRCC’s proof of funds requirement
Process Outline
- Eligibility based on candidate’s background, language skills, personal assets and business and employment history.
- Prepare a business plan and creation of new company
- Complete the Business Plan and submit the Project to the Business Incubator, and receive the LOS (Letter of Support)
- Submit the application for Permanent Residence
- Get your Canadian Permanent Residence
